Being a quiet hero is something you have to deserve. It is something that comes with hard work and determination to do the right thing, no matter the consequences. To do the right thing not only for not only yourself but also for other people that are less fortunate than others. Not all heros are supermen with a big "S" across their chest: sometimes, the real heros hide in plain clothes, quietly waiting to selflessly help anyone in need.
(TS) Atticus is a hero, yet humble at the same time.
(SD) Proudly, Atticus helps people when no one else will, and never regrets it. (CM) For example, Atticus, a SOFT SPOKEN man,
shot a mad dog that nobody else would go near. (CM) Later on, (days, week, months?) after the dog had been shot, Atticus noted that, “ people in their right minds never take pride in their talents.” Atticus, was being a soft spoken hero by not, "taking pride in [his] talent" (SD) As a hero Atticus acts in ways that nobody else will. (CM) When nobody else would help Tom Robinson, Atticus, a dignified, caring man, helped Tom. (CM) Atticus fought for Tom’s freedom with all his heart, “and look[ed] like he’s proud of it.” (SD) When I read To Kill A Mockingbird I often find myself thinking of Atticus, and how he is such an admirable man. (CM) When there is a conflict, Atticus always takes the time to listen to each side of the story and renders a just verdict. (CM) When someone is in trouble he helps the person, even if he does not like him or her. (CS) Atticus is a quiet hero because he is always there to help, even if nobody knows who he is.
(TS) A quiet hero in my life is my father. (SD) If you need help from my Dad he won’t hesitate to help you immediately. (CM) When he does help you he doesn’t say anything about it, he keeps it private and works hard to complete the task. (CM) He does this because he knows he did the right thing to help and doesn’t want to boast about it. (SD) The main reason I think my dad is quiet hero is because of work. (CM) My Dad works extremely hard just so I can have a good education. (CM) The hard work, long hours, and stress start before most people even think about waking up and Sometimes it's before some people even go to bed. (SD) My dad volunteers his time and piloting skills to help cancer patients go from one hospital to another. (CM) He does this because he imagines what it would feel like to be in the other person’s shoes. (CM) It costs him not only time but money to fly his plane, but he is proud of giving back to those who are less fortunate. He recognizes that he has the skills and resources to make it easier for the patient. (CS) In my eyes, my Dad is a quiet hero, an incredible father and a wonderful dad, and always will be.
Atticus and my father, among others, are truly quiet heros. Whether it is Atticus being a noble man that helps others in his or her time of need, or my father, who, whenever he sees someone struggling, goes and helps without being asked, these men are true heros. Although they don't wear capes and a fancy uniform, they are better than Superman.

Dear David,
ReplyDeleteI thought your essay was great and I especially enjoyed reading about your Dad being a quiet hero. You may want to consider joining the fourth CM in the second paragraph with the next sentence. I would add a comma after the word up and continue the sentence. I would also change the word recourses in the sixth CM in the second body paragraph to the word resources. I am sure you were just typing fast.
Great Job!
Ali
David, good job in your paragraph I enjoyed reading it. I think when you said emidietly in your first SD it make much sence so maybe if you wanted to look at that it would be great. Good job David you deserve a good grade.
